Growing up, we were lucky to have a mom who was an amazing baker. One of our favourite memories is when she made Valentine cookies. She would mix the dough, roll it out flat and then carefully cut out perfectly shaped hearts. Once the cookies were baked and cooled, she would spread a generous layer of pink vanilla buttercream on top and finish each cookie with a cinnamon heart.
We bake our mom’s Valentine heart-shaped cookies the same way she did. A simple, not-too-sweet vanilla biscuit cookie, made incredibly addictive when iced with vanilla buttercream and topped with a cinnamon heart. It’s enough to make us wish everyday was Valentine’s Day.
P.S. We love these cookies so much that we created a Valentine Cookie Decorating Kit. They were a huge hit! Each kit contained six large, fresh-baked, heart-shaped cookies, three colourful tubs of buttercream and an assortment of candy toppings. We even threw in piping bags and decorating tips. Love was in the air!
